Happy Thursday!
Today we kick off our Clinic on the Clinic. A small gathering to showcase the successes and learnings while building this vision. We will be sharing progress and tools with faculty members coming from different parts of the country (and England) to see what we are up to.
Tonight we also have our first Mentor Meetup of the semester! Students, please register here.
Thought of the day:
“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less”
― Marie Curie
TOP FIVE
🚀PMF / As in Product Market Fit. The myth, the legend, Justin Gern, sent this one my way. It's a great dive into cohort analysis and its key role in determining PMF. Check out "The best metric for determining quantitative product market fit".
👍Startup Finance / Feeling smart today? Take a look at this controversial piece from Alex Danco. He reflect's on the fundamentals of financial capital and the role of venture debt in the ecosystem in "Debt is Coming".
👻Casper / I finally took a look at"Four things to learn about D2C economics from Casper’s S-1". A couple key takeaways in the space are enlarging experiences is key, the need for omnichannel when you hit scale, and leveraging technology for maturing from a D2C brand to a new economy retailer.
🦄 Raising Money? / If you are hitting the fundraising trail, then this Airtable base may be for you. CRM and Database of the funds out there. Except for the fact that all their funds in NC are wrong, it's still a useful template. That reminds me, Idea Fund has some fresh cash, so may be a good time to reach out and pitch them..and apparently Josh Kopleman's DMs a re open until today for decks, while many VCs hit the slopes. I know, I digress...
👊Startups / A new type of fund? Send people, not money. "Reid Hoffman's $30M bet: Send partners, not cash, to startups".
