Happy Thursday friend,
In case you were out last week on your yearly wellness retreat, no worries I got you. You didn't miss too much. Just some people on reddit and something about hedge funds. I have some useful content and a reminder to register for our event next week. Beware, I will also use the word frameworks, like a lot.
Let's get to it…

✍️ It's always special when two of the most interesting people in the investing world sit down to chat. This week, Chamath Palihapitiya joined Patrick O'Shaughnessy to discuss the world's most pressing problems. I found this one to be critical not only because I enjoy Chamath a ton, but his particular take on time in the market vs. timing it. All while challenging traditional definitions of value investing. The episode covers what Chamath believes we should do to balance the scale and what inequality looks like from his investor perspective. That and some life lessons are included in the conversation. Give it a listen here.
Oh and in case you missed the GameStop craziness, the Daily had the best breakdown to get you up to speed.
💰 Ah, Framework. I don't know about you but I feel fancy when I use that word. To me, it means the foundation of a repeatable process. A kind of first principles approach, so to speak. So here is a totally boring list Frameworks that you should 100% read if you ever want to run a company.
🧐 Let me make a quick side note and talk about marketing. I've had several conversations with founders recently about how to get started and where to apply strategic marketing decisions. The best resource I've found lately is this "Racecar Growth Framework".
🎤 Ok, back to investing. Yes, I'm a sucker for long-term thoughtful thinking in life and in investing. I'm allergic to get-rich-quick schemes and “traders” sharing nonsense on Instagram. Don't take it from me. Charlie Munger shares some of the right principles for life in his Operating System (you guessed it) Framework.
🦄 The King steps down. Let's be real, Jeff Bezos biggest accomplishment is going from being a scruffy skinny guy to super buffed CEO. His second: The Everything Store. In a celebration of his 27 year run leading Amazon, Ben Thompson complied all his posts on the company in “The Relentless Jeff Bezos” to give us a sense of his accomplishments. This is not the end. But where do you go after you get to the moon? Is Amazon our modern day Standard Oil?
