Hi crew,
From debate to the Lakers, it's not even Friday yet. I know, we all need a break.
My hope is that today's content will give you hope on what's to come. So we'll focus on trends…oh and it's National Coffee Day today, so I'm celebrating by sharing my Aeropress mini-tutorial on TikTok (@gegonzalezorta). Don't judge me.

Top Five
✍️ A popular question we get is “How do I get a technical co-founder”. I usually reply “You don't need one”. The goal of an early founder is to demonstrate the value of their intended offering. If you can do this early, you learn what your customers really want, get traction without wasting resources, and you are better prepared to build the right thing. All these ultimately will make your startup more likely to succeed and give you the evidence of demand you need to get your first technical hires. Dru brings us the top No Code tools out there and breaks down the space in “Trends #0033 — No-Code”.
🔢 Gen Z, also known as the emoji experts, thoughtful activists that buy fast-fashion. We can't deny that they are the main focus of future trends, especially with the uptick in industries that appeal to them as eSports, live events, and fake meat(?). Gen Z whisperer, Tiffany Zhong brings us the top trends for this demographic and I'm sure you will be surprised by some of the results. Read “Zebra IQ 2020 Gen Z Trends”.
📈 Institutional Investing in startups is a tough business. Too many variables: region, fund brand, partners, etc. But what is the alternative? Mike Speiser, brings one of them. An incubation model that looks very similar to a Venture Studio. He provides unbiased insights to the concept and adds layers of value that have created 12 Billion for Sutter Hill Ventures. Read this deep dive on his approach “The Mike Speiser Incubation Playbook”.
💰 “Word of mouth was uncontrollable” - It's the phrase I always relate to Product Market Fit. But how does it look like in reality. Lenny puts it together in “What it feels like when you've found product-market fit – Issue 45”.
⏱ Baseball used to be the American pastime. But for Gen Z, it's the most boring sport. Their words, not mine. In an effort to make Covid baseball more engaging, the league expanded its playoffs format and maximized earnings for players. It's aligning monetary outcomes with performance in a way never tried before. Take a look in “The Monetary Benefits Of An Expanded MLB Postseason”.
