Zoom's Decision
Happy Thursday,
It's been a really good week for NC State startups. New companies and new articles. Here you go.
Thought of the day:
“I think you tell the story that has to be told. You tell the story that's the truth. You tell the story that readers will be interested in and should know about”
― Andrew Ross Sorkin
TOP FIVE
1- Zoom / There's a lot of buzz around Zoom, but how did they get a foothold in their space? Here's the specific article that can explain it. "Zoom's Freemium Decision Tree". Great post by Rob as always, go give him a follow.
2- YaHeard / In the middle of an environment where you can tell your friend's opinions about topics that are important to you, I introduce you to YaHeard "This App Wants You to Debate With Strangers"
3- Story-based Demos / You've probably been there. A sales person trying to say everything their product does without diving into your pain point. Learn how to really care about customers and "How to Run a Story-Based Demo".
4- Services Revenue / 'Same multiple. No extra work. 10-25% more revenue' Really? Tell us more Jason. He touches on SaaS services revenues in "Don’t Forget the Services Revenue".
5- API Economy / Twilio, Stripe, Plaid, are just a few examples of billion-dollar API companies. Should you be building an API company? How is it different from a traditional software offering? Josh Nussbaum takes on the topic with a good intro post in "Disruption vs Enablement: API Startups".
